Activities - Seminars
The program for the 7th group of the diplomatic attachés that is currently held at the Institute has included the following activities:
- A seminar on "the co-operation between the Jordanian Embassies and the
Private Sector" was held on January 6,in co-operation with the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs, The Jordanian Businessmen Association and Jordan Enterprise.
- A seminar on "the role of the Jordanian Missions abroad in attracting foreign
Investments" was held on January 9,2008 in co-operation with the Foreign
Ministry, Jordan Enterprise and the Jordanian Industrial groupings representing
the private sector.
- The Bahraini-Jordanian Diplomatic Forum that was held from February 17
Up to February 21,2008 ,in co-operation with the Foreign Ministry of the
Bahraini Kingdom.
- A seminar on" the Humanitarian International Law" was held on February
29,2008 in co-operation with ICRC in Amman.
- A seminar on "Human Rights in Jordan" was held on May 7,and May 8, 2008 in co-operation with the National Center for Human Rights.
UN Peacekeeping Doctrine". This Roundtable was organized under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Marouf Al Bakhit , Prime Minister of Jordan in the period (5-6/9/2007) in cooperation with UN Peacekeeping Department Operations, Folke Bernadotte Academy and Person Peace Keeping Center. The Roundtable brought experts from Pakistan, India, Nepal, Bangladesh and Jordan. (Keynote Remarks by the Prime Minister)
In the context of the New Diplomatic Attachés Program, 6th group, the following seminars were held:
- Jordanian National Security and the Role of Foreign Policy, in cooperation with the Royal Jordanian National Defense College on 16/5/2007.
- Interfaith Cultural Dialogue on 1/5/2007
- "International Humanitarian Law," which was organized in cooperation with the International Committee for the Red Cross in Amman on 14/2/2007
In addition, the following seminars were held:
- "In search of Peace: Conflict Approaches". The seminar was organized in cooperation with the Ecole Nationale d'Administration (national school for administration of France) and support from the French Diplomatic mission in Amman, in the period 26/2 - 28/2/2007. 37 Participants from various government organizations took part.
- Anti Corruption Seminar. This seminar was held over two days (19-20/6/2006) in cooperation with France's Service Central de Prévention de la Corruption (SCPC) -- central service for the prevention of corruption -- and with the support of the French Diplomatic mission in Amman. 31 Participants from different government organizations concerned took part in the seminar, in which a number of working papers were presented by French experts from the SCPC and from the French Ministry of Justice and Ministry of Interior. A paper was also presented by His Excellency Dr. Muhyiddine Touq, former JID president and Chairman of the UN Convention against Corruption (UNDOC) Committee.
- Regional Seminar on Public Service and Human Resources. The three-day (11-13/6/2006) seminar was held at the JID in cooperation with the Ecole Nationale d'Administration (ENA) and with support from the French Embassy in Amman. 15 civil servants took part from Jordan, Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, and the Sultanate of Oman. A number of working papers were presented by French experts and other participants.
- The Role of Civil Society Institutions in Building and Consolidating the Culture of Human Rights. This seminar was organized on 23/5/2006 in cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Center for Human Rights, and the JID. This was the first meeting of its kind between Jordan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and representatives of civil society institutions and NGOs to explore means of cooperation between institutions of the State and civil society in enhancing human rights in Jordan. The Morning session explored the establishment of the theoretical framework for the role of civil society in supporting human rights in Jordan, while the evening session explored the vision of civil society of its role in promoting and protecting human rights, including practical applications and obstacles. His Excellency the Minster of Foreign Affairs attended the opening and closing sessions.
